Welcome
to Final Fantasy
Legacy, dedicated to every Final Fantasy game from 1 to 8 and beyond.
If you have only experienced Final Fantasy VII and VIII then this
is where you can learn about the earlier episodes in the series,
some of which were only ever released in Japan.
Each Final Fantasy page contains all the info and media I've managed
to accumulate about each game including background info, artwork,
screenshots, wallpapers and walkthroughs etc.

FF
Legacy Message Forums now open: Click
Here!
Been meaning to set them up for a while
now but end of year exams took their toll... Anyway they're here
now and although they'll be pretty quiet for a little while please
help to get them off the ground! Also we need moderators, if anybody's
interested please contact me.
FFIX
Section Updated
Fully
revised FFIX section with profiles for all 8 characters, 3 more
screenshots and 4 desktop backgrounds.
Square
Launches Playonline Portal
The
website for Square's forthcoming online gaming portal has been launched
at www.playonline.com. Although there's not much there at the moment,
there is however some FFIX stuff along with a small preview of what
we're to expect when they eventually launch the service. PC and
PS2 users will be able to access the service for not only online
gaming but also daily Manga, Chat and lots more. It looks as if
the FFX and FFXI sites will live on Playonline, as there are already
sections set aside for them marked 'Coming Soon'.

New
Server and new FFIX section
Well
I've had to move the site again, FF Legacy now lives here at fflegacy.gamehosts.com,
although the old URL www.fflegacy.co.uk should still work indefinitely.
Due
to the fact that it's taken me so much time (and hassle!) to sort
the move out, I've missed out on quite a few news updates such as
the new FFIX characters. However, I have managed to upload the brand
new Final Fantasy IX section which
includes details and CG of 4 characters, screenshots, Amano artwork
and desktop backgrounds. Expect to see a lot more FFIX stuff added
over the next few days or so.

Well it's
been a long time since the last update, which is mainly due to the
fact that my internet connection has been down for a while. There
has been a lot of news regarding FFIX lately, so here's a brief
summary, expect some more in depth coverage when the Final Fantasy
IX section goes up sometime next week:

Final
Fantasy IX News:
Firstly,
the official names of the 3 main characters have been confirmed:
Zidane
Triball:
A 16 year old member of the thieves guild, sports a tail.
VIVI:
The 9 year old traditional pointy-hatted black mage, seen in the
trailer. His name is spelt in caps, NORG style.
Edward Steiner: A hard-headed 33 year old royal knight who
serves a princess.

Japanese
Release Dates:
Square have announced projected japanese release
dates for all three of the forthcoming titles: FFIX: July, FFX:
Spring 2001 and Fall 2001 for FFXI.
Gameplay
Details:
The game will feature a total of 8 party members,
with the possibility of extra part time members. Zidane (a name
which should prove popular with French FFIX players!), VIVI and
Edward will be in the main party, and possibly a fourth member called
Garnet, who has been spotted in the screenshots (however there still
aren't any signs of the games female contingency!). The presence
of an airship has been confirmed, and the giant
airship seen in the screenshots is revealed to be a flying
theatre, travelling from town to town. The giant angel/alexander
creature which also appears in one of the screenshots is
apparently in charge of protecting a castle which holds one of the
fabled 'Crystals'.
Finally,
the plot will concentrate on several central characters instead
of just one.
Most
of the above was sourced from the Gaming Intelligence Agency (what
would we do without them!), give them a visit at www.thegia.com,

Final Fantasy IX, X and XI announced at Square's Millennium Conference
During the conference which was
held at the weekend, Square unveiled their plans for the next three
episodes in the Final Fantasy series:
Final
Fantasy IX
Apart from the fact that we can all be happy in the knowledge that
FFIX is defintely on its way, Square didn't reveal much that
hasn't already been circulated as rumours for months already. The
main points are as follows:
-It
will be released on the current Playstation this summer in Japan.
-The story will depart from the high technology
trend of VII and VIII
and will instead feature a welcome
(for some) return to the 'tradition' of
early FF games (medieval setting,
dragons etc.).
-The battle system could change dramatically:
Battles will be more
action orientated with up to 4 characters
in a party, also a possible
return to the MP magic casting system.
-Non realistic 'Super Deformed' cartoony
style characters.
The
GIA have got some really cool design
sketches (amongst other things) which probably give the best
idea of what we're to expect in FFIX.
Final
Fantasy X
Planned for a 2001 release on the Playstation 2,
FFX will serve as a testing ground for Square's new online service:
Play Online.
FFIX will be a solo experience, and it seems that the online option
will serve merely as a means to access gameplay strategies. One
thing that is certain FFX will have gorgeous super realistic graphics
and a true 3D gaming environment.
Final
Fantasy XI
will be a fully multiplayer experience and will make full use of
the PS2's broadband capabilities (let's hope us brits have all got
fully unmetered digital internet access by then...)

The GIA
Final
Fantasy VIII PC released
It
came out on the 25th in the US. The European version is expected
in March followed by a Japanese release in April.
