After
irrevocably changing the average RPG gamers expectations with FFIV,
Square proved 18 months later that they could maintiain the same
level of quality. The game was a mighty 16mb, FFV is thought by
some to be the best FF game ever, and is also one of the darkest
FF games to date.
Story:
In
a world protected from evil by the elemental crystals, the King
of Tycoon travels to the shrine of the wind crystal, only to witness
it shattering into pieces. The wind died, and it is left to Butz
and his companions to discover what is going wrong with the crystals. That
is only the beginning, FFV features a very emotional storyline
with major characters getting killed off throughout the game.
Gamesystem:
This
outing sees the return of the excellent 'job' system seen in FF3.
As players progress, the crystals grant them the abilities of
dead warriors, a total of twenty jobs are acquired throughout
the game. A character's class can be changed at any time and levels
and skills are gained for the job that is currently assigned.
